banshee -- Rosie

ban·shee also ban·shie  (bnsh)
n.
A female spirit in Gaelic folklore believed to presage, by wailing, a death in a family.

[Irish Gaelic bean sídhewoman of the fairies, banshee : beanwoman (from Old Irish ben; see gwen- in Indo-European roots) + sídhefairy (from Old Irish síde, genitive of sídfairy mound; see sed- in Indo-European roots).]

Rosie howled like a banshee the Christmas eve night she killed the yard critter.
